Academy is an institution of higher education, research, or honorary membership. Name trace back to Plato’s philosophical school, founded about 385 BC at Akademia, the shrine of Athena, goddess of wisdom and skill, north of Athens, Greece. In the Western academic world is the term commonly used for higher education institutions collectively.

Before the Academy is a school, and even before Cimon enclosed area around the wall, containing the sacred olive grove tRees is dedicated to Athena, goddess of wisdom, outside the city walls of ancient Athens.
